TOMAŽ MOČILNIK

Tomaž Močilnik, born in Slovenia in 1990, began his artistic training in his homeland before moving to the State Conservatory in Klagenfurt in 2005 and finally beginning his clarinet studies with Gerald Pachinger at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in 2009. He also participated in numerous master classes with outstanding musicians such as Wenzel Fuchs, Sabine Meyer and Karl Leister. In 2014 he was accepted into the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle and the Staatsoper Berlin, where he played under conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Sebastian Weigle and Paavo Järvi. A year earlier he had already taken up his position as the principal clarinetist in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, where he gained further important experience under Herbert Blomstedt, among others. Tomaž Močilnik is the prize winner at several international clarinet competitions in Slovenia, Austria and Italy. Since 2016 he has been principal clarinetist in the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra.
